In this fabulous Urban Fantasy novel Detective Charlie Madigan, the fearless heroine, finds herself in yet another battle with the darkness. Someone is killing Elysians and stealing their life force. Under a constant cover of darkness, Charlie and her siren partner Hank are on a dangerous search to find the person responsible before more of the angelic Adonai are senselessly murdered. Unfortunately the investigation is putting everyone Charlie cares about at risk and she is forced to seek help in the most unlikely places. Through their treacherous journey secrets are discovered, ancient myths revealed, and Charlie finds herself in a power struggle she never realized was even possible. It is a whirlwind of adventure, danger and suspense.

The plot was absolutely fantastic. The characters are amazing and I found myself instantly drawn to them and their stories. The story was filled with excitement, and I barley put the book down. I was a little disappointed that I wasn’t able to read the first book in the series prior to reading this one. I feel like I may have missed some key things that would have drawn me even deeper into the storyline. The author did an excellent job with detail so I didn’t feel lost, but I think the story would have been even more intriguing had I known the lead character’s history a little better. I plan to go grab a copy of the first book, because I am definitely a new fan of the Charlie Madigan series!

Books in this series in the order that they should be read:
1. The Better Part of Darkness
2. The Darkest Edge of Dawn

Like what you hear?
