About the Book:
What if you knew exactly when you would die?

Thanks to modern science, every human being has become a ticking genetic time bomb—males only live to age twenty-five and females only live to age twenty. In this bleak landscape, young girls are kidnapped and forced into polygamous marriages to keep the population from dying out.

When sixteen-year-old Rhine Ellery is taken by the Gatherers to become a bride, she enters a world of wealth and privilege. Despite her husband Linden's genuine love for her and a tenuous trust among her sister wives Rhine has one purpose: to escape—to find her twin brother and go home.

But Rhine has more to contend with than losing her freedom. Linden's father is bent on finding an antidote to the genetic virus that is getting closer to taking his son, even if it means collecting corpses in order to test his experiments. With the help of Gabriel, a servant she trusts, Rhine attempts to break free, in the limted time she has left.
My Review:
Wither by Lauren DeStefano is brilliantly compelling. I sat down to read this book and didn't get up until I was finished. I was sucked into the story within the first page and was hooked until the very end. This story is intelligent, engaging and a definite must read. Go add it to your must buy list now!

Every character is three dimensional, extremely believable and it is wonderful watching them evolve within the plot. You will find yourself juggling with the motives of each character- whether they're evil or not. The most intriguing relationships within the book are those between Rhine and her sister wives. It amazes me how well these women can adapt to sharing one man and become literally like sisters who depend on each other to remain sane. I just love a main character who refuses to give up- Rhine does not give up. Ever. The wheels are constantly turning in her head.

This book is just simply amazing- very well written. The only con I could think of after reading Wither is the fact that it doesn't hit shelves until March of 2011... which means I will be waiting too long for its sequel. I'm on pins and needles to find out what happens to Rhine and will be counting down the days until Chemical Gardens #2 is released. Sigh.

Do yourself a favor, Pre-Order this book! :)
