My Review:
Hellforged by Nancy Holzner is the wildly intense second installment in the Deadtown series. I must admit that I have not read the first in this series, but that in no way hindered my thoughts on Hellforged. Though I wouldn't recommend skipping the first book because I have heard such wonderful things about it, you can begin this series with book two and not skip a beat!

After saving the world in Deadtown, Victory Vaughn is finally back to her regular gig- hunting demons. And while on what seemed like an easy case, she is being visited in her dreams by the Destroyer- the villain she thought she had slayed in Deadtown. Though in a normal scenario she may not be panicking due to the return of the Destroyer, each time he visits someone close to her dies. Now she has to put the pieces together and beat the clock before any one else kicks the bucket.

There is a plethora of intriguing characters in Deadtown. Holzner did a fantastic job building a world within its walls. But in Hellforged, we get to venture outside of Deadtown and get to know our heroine a little bit better. Vicky is smart and courageous- extremely likable. It was refreshing to see secondary characters pushed further into the background so that the heroine really got all the time in the spotlight.

This novel is not your typical Urban Fantasy. I feel like I'm able to predict the outcome of most novels, not much surprises me... but Holzner shocked me and I loved it. The writing is professional, smooth and not a single character is safe from an untimely demise. If you're looking for a novel with major ass-kicking- you're in the right place. Any Urban Fantasy junkie will enjoy this one.
