My Review:
Dreams of a Dark Warrior by Kresley Cole is incredibly enticing, intense and impossible to put down. This is the eleventh novel in the Immortals After Dark series but can be read as a standalone novel. This was my first time reading Kresley Cole- it will not be my last. It is safe to say that I was entirely consumed by this novel and immersed in a brilliant world full of vivid characters. I will be going back to read the first ten books in this series now!

The story begins with a prologue- this isn't a prologue that should be skipped. It is well written, intriguing and is significant to the story. In short, Reign is cursed so that when her true love dies he continues to be reborn to find her. And when he finally remembers their past together, he is dieing in her arms within hours... multiple times over a century. Not normally a fan of flashbacks, Cole writes them so well. I actually loved the flashbacks- they were well integrated into the story and encourage the reader to find more emotional ground with Declan. (He needs all the help he can get- super evil!)

Reign the Radiant, our heroine, is well known for her pranks and killer fighting skills. Though being an incredible fighter, she is stabbed and kidnapped by Declan and The Order. If you're squeamish, you may be skimming a few pages. The Order likes to torture and dissect immortal beings to find their weaknesses... while they're awake. Lots of cringe worthy moments, I loved it. The plot really begins to chug along at this point as Reign meets her new cellmates and watches as allies and enemies alike are dragged into the examination room.

Lets talk characters. This book is exploding with vivacious, brilliant personalities. Not only the primary characters either. The creatures of the Lore are fascinating. I was just as transfixed on the secondary characters as I was with Declan and Reign. When will Cole give us more information and a love interest for Thad and Lothaire? Thad is an adorable, newbie immortal where as Lothaire is dark, sexy and centuries old. Delicious characters at both ends of the paranormal spectrum. Who wouldn't be enthralled with gorgeously described, mysterious, immortal men?

I highly recommend this book. I absolutely love the smooth, beautiful portrayal of eternal love and how Cole writes. The plot didn't leave anything to be desired either, it is my definition of a perfect plot. The crisis, action and love story were all very well balanced... nothing was over the top or overwhelming. Anyone who loves Paranormal Romance must read this book. I can't wait to read the first ten books and can't wait for the next release in early 2012! Just added Kresley Cole to my long list of favorite authors to watch.
