5 out of 5 Robots!
AnnaLise Griggs is a journalist for a newspaper in Wisconsin. Mama, her mother’s best friend, phoned AnnaLise to tell her to come home to Sutherton, North Carolina quickly. AnnaLise’s mother, Daisy has made a terrible error and drained three pints of blood from Mrs. Bradenham. Daisy volunteers each year to assist with the town’s annual blood drive. This is the first time that Daisy has made such a huge mistake. AnnaLise rushes home to determine what is going on with her mother. AnnaLise doesn’t understand how her mother could make this appalling mistake.
AnnaLise returns home during a Labor Day event celebration. The event is going smoothly until town citizens are turning up dead. The police are saying that the deaths are from accidents. AnnaLise believes that something more is happening to the citizens of Sutherton. But the truth slowly starts to come out a little at a time. AnnaLise starts asking questions around the town to try and solve the mystery of the deaths. AnnaLise is worried that Daisy could be the next victim.
I enjoyed the mystery of this novel because it kept taking many plot twists and turns. I never could have imagined the secrets that some of the town citizens were trying to keep hidden. Running on Empty kept me engrossed to the very last page.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good mystery. I would rate Running on Empty 5 robots! It will keep you trying to solve the mystery behind the killings along with AnnaLise. I can’t wait to continue reading the next book in the Main Street Murders series!
