About the Book:
Madeline Black is an Agent of death, meaning she escorts the souls of people who have died to the afterlife. Of course, not everyone is happy to see her...

If obstinate dead people were all that Maddy had to worry about, life would be much easier. But the best-laid plans of Agents and fallen angels often go awry. Deaths are occurring contrary to the natural order, Maddy's being stalked by foes inside and outside of her family, and her two loves- her bodyguard, Gabriel, and her doughnut-loving gargoyle, Beezle-have disappeared. But because Maddy is Lucifer's granddaughter, things are expected of her, things like delicate diplomatic missions to other realms.

My Thoughts:
Madeline Black is back and super badass in her second installment, Black Night. This is one of my absolute favorite Urban Fantasy series- it has it all. Black Night is intensely action packed with characters that have depth and are constantly evolving. They have me either frustrated or laughing out loud. If you are a fan of Urban Fantasy, don't bother reading my thoughts, just go pick up this series!

All of our favorite characters return for Black Night- Maddy, Beezle, Nathaniel, Gabriel and JB. Maddy is still gutsy and Beezle is still snarky. Gabriel doesn't play a huge role in this novel, but Nathaniel and JB are front and center of Maddy's latest adventure. I actually prefer Nathaniel to Gabriel, he is stubborn, domineering and I love his interactions with Maddy. Nathaniel has just grown on me so much, I loved him by the end of this book. Really hoping he is a major focus in the next installment.

If you're looking for a brilliant urban fantasy with page-turning action, witty dialogue and fun characters - this is your book. I hope Christina Henry keeps writing many more in the Madeline Black series, I LOVE her writing style. And I can't wait for Black Howl next year!
