Book Blurb:
Having narrowly averted an (under)world war, Cat Crawfield wants nothing more than a little downtime with her vampire husband, Bones. Unfortunately, her gift from New Orleans' voodoo queen just keeps on giving--leading to a personal favor that sends them into battle once again, this time against a villainous spirit.

Centuries ago, Heinrich Kramer was a witch hunter. Now, every All Hallows Eve, he takes physical form to torture innocent women before burning them alive. This year, however, a determined Cat and Bones must risk all to send him back to the other side of eternity--forever. But how do you kill a killer who's already long dead? Courtesy of
My Thoughts:
One Grave at a Time by Jeaniene Frost is a perfect mixture of all things urban fantasy and paranormal romance. The best parts of this story are all the relationships- Cat and Bones, Spade and Denise, Dexter and Tyler, Fabian and Cat... And though this book is the sixth in the series, I think it could be read as a stand alone. There is just enough throwback without it feeling tedious to old fans of the series.
So, of course our favorite couple Cat and Bones are at it again- and they're as perfectly brilliant as ever. Frost really keeps their relationship fresh. I love the chemistry between these two. There aren't as many intimate scenes as I'm sure most readers would like, but that didn't slow the story down. I also missed some of my favorite secondary characters, but I'm not complaining because we see a whole lot of Ian. Love Ian! And he plays a much larger role in this novel than the last.
I will admittedly say I am a little disappointed because this plot didn't have my emotions all over the place. Frost is known to have made me giggle, cry and shout- all in one novel. This one didn't really grab at my heart strings like some of the others in this series. Regardless, One Grave at a Time is still an awesome read. Cat and Bones are back and kicking evil's ass.
If you love a good urban fantasy and romance... pick up this book! Actually, pick it up even if you don't, Jeaniene Frost knows how to throw a reader into her story. I'm rereading this one in October! Perfect Halloween read!

  1. I didn't love This Side of the Grave, but I hope that I love this one more. I was a bit disappointed with the last one.

  2. Aw, I really liked the last one... Though my favorite was the 4th I think...

  3. I know what you mean by her books being emotionally taxing. I'm usually worn out by the time I finish one of her books. She is a master at plucking the heartstrings. Great review.
