My Review:
Harper Blaine is a Greywalker, having the ability to move through the realm that exists between the living world and the dead, helping the world of the paranormal as their affairs often interfere with the human world. After being shot and dying, again, Harper seems to have lost some of her powers and knows this may just be the last chance at life she has. Planning to take it easy on her road to recovery by working some simple pre-trial investigation for one of her more popular clients, Harper witnesses a ghostly accident in which the ghostly victim himself insists he was murdered. She can’t help but feel obligated as a Greywalker to take some time to investigate the case, what she didn’t expect was the mess she would uncover.

Harper’s investigation lands her in an off-season mountain resort that seems to center around a large lake, that some have nicknamed “Blood Lake.” This lake however seems to hold a great amount of power and as her research takes her deeper into the history surrounding the lake she finds that the entire area seems to be filled with all sorts of magical dangerous creatures who all seem to be after the same thing..holding the power to the lake. Harper must sort out the good intentions of these beings from the evil ones and try and bring peace and order back to this small town.

This urban fantasy does a good job of bringing in all kinds of magical creatures to keep the interest of the reader. I felt a little lost as to the character’s history as I didn’t read the prior stories in the series, but the character is very likable and she has grabbed my attention enough to consider going back to read the series from the start. It wasn’t the best story I have read in a while, but I’m hoping the disconnect I felt was merely from picking up after so much has happened to the character prior to this story.

  1. Haven't read this series, but it sounds interesting. There was a haunted lake near where I went to college and when we went boating on it, whooo it was creepy! So yeah, I'd definitely be interesting in reading Kat's take on it.
