Top Ten Books I Resolve to Read in 2013
1. Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card
With the movie coming out, I feel like this is the year to read it. I've always read good things about it, but just haven't ever pick it up.
2. Spark by Amy Kathleen Ryan
I read Glow awhile ago and got Spark, but then...got distracted. I'm trying to implement a new policy to finish up series once I start them. Or least catch up to where the series is in production.
3. In the Garden of Beasts: Love, Terror, and an American Family in Hitler's Berlin by Erik Larsen
I asked for this book for my birthday in 2011 and haven't gotten around to reading it. Which is a shame, because I really liked his Devil in the White City and Thunderstruck.
4. Something by China Mieville
I've been hearing good things about him and his books seem super interesting. I actually started Railsea but just couldn't get into it at the time and it was due back at the library. I want to read it this year. And I would also like to read Un Lun Dun or Kraken.

5. In the Woods by Tana French
This is a series I've already wanted to read, so I'm adding the first book to my list to start me off.
6. Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman
I got this book in a holiday book exchange in 2010 and it is still sitting on my bookshelf sadly. And I'm a big Neil Gaiman fan too. Shame.
7. Lament by Maggie Stiefvater
2012 was the year of Maggie Stiefvater for me, having read her Wolves of Mercy Falls series, Scorpio Races, and The Raven Boys. This is the only series of hers I haven't read yet.

8. Unearthly by Cynthia Hand
I've heard such great things about this series and with the last book coming out this year, I feel like I should get with the program!
9. Wither by Lauren DeStefano
This is another series that is ending in 2013 and has gotten great reviews.
10. Where'd You Go Bernadette? by Maria Semple
I actually won a copy of this in a giveaway this past summer and haven't read it yet. It is set in my hometown Seattle, so that will be fun!

I LOVED Glow as well, but haven't gotten around to Spark yet. I must add this to my (ever growing) list. What absolutely surprises me is Wither! Girl! You need to devour that book TODAY! I mean, really! It's my ALL time favorite novel. You'll love it! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI know! I can't believe I've waited so long to read it!
