Top Ten Tuesdays: Book Covers of Books I've Read

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!

Each week we will post a new Top Ten list  that one of our bloggers here at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone is welcome to join. All we ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post AND add your name to the Linky widget so that everyone can check out other bloggers lists! If you don't have a blog, just post your answers as a comment. Have fun with it! It's a fun way to get to know your fellow bloggers.

Top Ten Favorite Book Covers of Books I've Read

Shannon's Picks:

Ack!  I couldn't narrow it down to 10 books, so you get more!

Creepy Gothic Covers:
I especially like The Space Between because it is so dead on if you read the book.

Anna Dressed in Blood (Anna, #1) Girl of Nightmares (Anna, #2)  The Space Between Paper Valentine

Pretty Dresses That Have Nothing To Do With the Story:
I want a smoke dress.

Everneath (Everneath, #1) Everbound (Everneath, #2) Born Wicked (The Cahill Witch Chronicles, #1) Fallen (Fallen, #1)

Sometimes simple is best.  I love these redesigns, especially Lirael.

Sabriel (The Abhorsen Trilogy, #1) Lirael (Abhorsen, #2) Abhorsen (The Abhorsen Trilogy, #3)

Covers that Tell a Story:
I see this a lot with Middle Grade books, but I love covers that convey a lot of the story in one picture.  I always find myself flipping back to the cover to see how it fits in.

The Crowfield Curse (Crowfield Abbey, #1) Peter Nimble and His Fantastic Eyes Marcelo in the Real World

Neat Dystopian Covers:
Dystopians get some of the coolest, badass-iest covers.  These three are my favorites.  (Perry is looking mighty fine!)

Prodigy (Legend, #2)  Through the Ever Night (Under the Never Sky, #2) Divergent (Divergent, #1)

Cool Fantasy Covers:
Fantasy covers either are really visually engaging...or they are overdone.  I like Grave Mercy because it gives me a strong sense of the feel of the book.  I like Raven Boys because you don't see many painted covers - almost everything is photoshopped or designed on a computer.  Shadow and Bone has to be one of my favorite covers of all time.  There is just something so mysterious and engaging about it.  Lastly, this cover of The Scorpio Races is actually the UK edition.  I love the Celtic feel to it because the book has a strong Celtic feel and I think this cover gives the reader that.

Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin, #1) The Raven Boys (The Raven Cycle, #1) Shadow and Bone (The Grisha, #1) The Scorpio Races

  1. I want a smoke dress too! Carrier of the Mark and Everneath would've made my list if I'd read them yet. :) Awesome list!

  3. I'm a big fan of the creepy, gothic covers myself! The Brenna Yovanoff covers are all truly fantastic. I have REPLACEMENT on my own list.

  4. Anna made my list, too. The Space Between is awesome. Peter Nimble's cover is so cool. Great list!
