Book Summary:
Only sunlight can save us.

We built the wall to keep them out, to keep us safe. But it also makes us prisoners, trapped in what's left of our ravaged city, fearing nightfall.

After the death of my parents, it's up to me—as the newest delegate for humanity—to bargain with our vampire overlord. I thought I was ready. I thought I knew everything there was to know about the monsters. Then again, nothing could have prepared me for Lord Valentine . . . or his son. Maybe not all vampires are killers. Maybe it's safe to let one in.

Only one thing is certain: Even the wall is not enough. A war is coming and we cannot hide forever.

Shannon's Thoughts:
I have a confession to make.  These paranormal romance type novels are not my favorite.  I find them very formulaic, over the top and not well written.  They all seem the same to me and blend together.  So you many have to take my review with a grain of salt.  Darkness Before Dawn was better than others I have read, but I'm still not sure it brings anything new to the table.  I thought the premise was interesting where in the future vampires and human had waged a war against each other with the humans losing.  Now humans live in walled cities and donate their blood to their vampire overlords.  Dawn is the newest delegate to Lord Valentine, Denver's vampire overlord.  But Dawn ends up getting entangled with Victor, Lord Valentine's son, and finds out there is a lot more going happening than she realizes.

Darkness Before Dawn is fun with a lot of action and tension.  If you are looking for an extremely well written book, you may have to look elsewhere.  But if you want something easy and quick with vampires and romance then give this one a go.

Other books in this series in the order that they should be read:
1. Darkness Before Dawn
2. Blood Kissed Sky
3. After Daybreak
