Book Summary:
How far will you go when you have nothing left to lose?

When she lost her soul mate, Caleb, Eve felt like her world had ended. Trapped in the palace, forced to play the part of the happy, patriotic princess of The New America—and the blushing bride of her father's top adviser—Eve's whole life is a lie. The only thing that keeps her going is Caleb's memory, and the revolution he started.

Now, Eve is taking over where Caleb left off. With the help of Moss, an undercover subversive in the King's court, she plots to take down The New America, beginning with the capital, the City of Sand. Will Eve be able to bring about a new, free world when she's called upon to perform the ultimate act of rebellion—killing her father?

In Rise, Eve must choose who to leave behind, who to save, and who to fight as Anna Carey's epic tale of romance and sacrifice in the chilling dystopia of The New America comes to a stunning conclusion.

Julia and Shannon's Thoughts:

1. What was your favorite part?  You least favorite part?
Julia:  Honestly, I'm not sure I have a favorite part. I was frustrated with Eve for the most part of this book even though I did enjoy it and read it pretty quickly. Ok, I guess I could say that my favorite part of this book is the evolution of Eve's character. She uses her stubborn strength to fight for others and always tries to do what's right. Even if she IS frustrating and makes me roll my eyes, haha. My least favorite part is probably just that too, her personality and how she treats Charles.
Shannon: I agree.  I felt like Eve really starts to own everything that has happened.  So my favorite part was seeing her rise (pun intended, haha) to the occasion. My least favorite part was how mean she was to Charles!  God, that guy was WAY too nice to her.

2. What are you non-spoilery thoughts on the ending?  Did you like how it ended?
Julia: I don't like that _____ was still ______. Can you fill in those blanks? Because there is no way for me to tell you about how I feel about the ending and leave out a spoiler. Haha, but it is just... I knew that was the case. And I wanted the author to prove me wrong! I want to be surprised!
Shannon: I didn't like part of the general direction the ending went. I didn't like that Eve was _______.  And I didn't like that ______ was still ______ either.  I dunno.  It seemed like a weird side plot.  But I do think there was a lot of resolution at the end.  I felt very satisfied in that.

3. What did you think of the characters?
Julia: I like Arden, I thought that the person she becomes in the third book suited her and made sense. Eve is frustrating. I'm in love with Charles and I'm glad that characters from the previous book made an appearance.
Shannon: I found Eve really annoying too.  She was so single minded and mean to Charles, who really just wanted to help her.  But I did I like where some of the past characters end up.

4. What did you think of this book overall?
Julia: For as many negative things I think/say about it, I really enjoyed it. Definitely 4/5 robots. ;) It was quickly paced and there was a lot of action.
Shannon: I would give it a solid 4/5 robots too.  The book is pretty short and I think that it hinders it.  One hand it moves along at a rapid pace, but on the other hand it there isn't a lot of character building.  I would have love to see some of the characters fleshed out a bit.

5.  How about the series overall?
Julia: Great series. I will probably suggest it to those of you who are dystopia junkies. I probably won't suggest it to anyone else and I won't reread it. Very worth reading once though!
Shannon: It is a decent series.  For dystopian lovers, I think it is a must read.  But there are certainly better dystopians out there.  Again, each book is short, so they can be read through very quickly and they are pretty exciting.

Books in the series in the order they should be read:
1. Eve
2. Once
3. Rise
