Book Summary:
After setting out to break the curse that binds them together, the pirate Ananna and the assassin Naji find themselves stranded on an enchanted island in the north with nothing but a sword and their wits. But Naji has unseen enemies, and Ananna must face the wrath of the Pirate Confederation.

Together, they must travel afar, defeat their foes and break the mother of all curses. With all this going on, falling in love would be such a bad idea... All of this and much, much more await, in the swashbuckling sequel to The Assassin's Curse.

Shannon's Thoughts:
This series is a total sleeper hit for me.  Admittedly the covers were what  first drew me in.  So, so pretty!  But the synopses sounded awesome too.  Pirates?!  Assassin's?!  Curses?!  Count me in!!  The first book, The Assassin's Curse, did not disappoint and neither did this sequel.  This series is one of the most imaginative and fun series I have read in a long time.  I am truly impressed with how much Clarke can accomplish in this relatively short book.  Her world is so richly imagined and her characters are great.  Ananna and Naji are about as opposite as can be, but as about as stubborn as can be.  Ananna is a fiery personality.  She tends to be a "shoot first, ask questions later" type person.  Naji, however,  is quiet, introspective and serious.  Everything he does, he does with great care and deliberation and keeps his feelings close to his heart.

At the start of The Pirate's Wish, Ananna and Naji are still stranded on the island.  Ananna is fighting her feelings for Naji, whom she believes does not reciprocate.  But they still have three impossible tasks to complete before Naji is free from his curse.  Before long they are rescued from the island and that is where the adventure really starts to happen. We also get to meet some new characters.  My favorite was the Manticore.

I found this a very satisfying conclusion to Ananna and Naji's story.  At times my heart was breaking for them and other times it was full of joy.  It wasn't a perfect, storybook ending but it was one full of revelations and understandings.  I cannot recommend this series enough!

Other books in this series in the order that they should be read:
.5 The Witch's Betrayal
.6  The Automaton's Treasure
1. The Assassin's Curse
2. The Pirate's Wish
