Top Ten Tuesday: Best Sequels Ever

Shannon's Top Ten Best Sequels Ever

Top Ten Tuesday is an original weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish

1. Scarlet (Sequel to Cinder) by Marissa Meyers
I was late to the game with Cinder.  I love it, but Scarlet blew me away.  I loved all the new characters and how it was action start to finish.

 Scarlet (Lunar Chronicles, #2)

2. Where She Went (Sequel to If I Stay) by Gayle Forman
Again, I really enjoyed the first, but the second really got to me.

Where She Went (If I Stay, #2)

3.Through the Ever Night/Into the Still Blue (Sequels to Under the Never Sky) by Veronica Rossi
I pretty loved all three equally, which is an accomplishment in and of itself.

Through the Ever Night (Under the Never Sky, #2) Into the Still Blue (Under the Never Sky, #3)

4.Crown of Embers/The Bitter Kingdom (Sequels to Girl of Fire and Thorns) by Rae Carson
This is another series that was strong from start to finish.  But I loved seeing Elisa growth over the course of the story.

The Crown of Embers (Fire and Thorns, #2) The Bitter Kingdom (Fire and Thorns, #3)

5. The Dream Thieves (Sequel to The Raven Boys) by Maggie Stiefvater
I loved this sequel because the first book set up the characters and story, but the sequel allowed me to dive right into it and it felt more comfortable the second time around.

The Dream Thieves (The Raven Cycle, #2)

6. The Pirate's Wish (Sequel to The Assassin's Curse) by Cassandra Rose Clark
I just loved both of them.  A Lot.

The Pirate's Wish (The Assassin's Curse, #2)

7. Necromancing the Stone (Sequel to Hold Me Closer, Necromancer) by Lish McBride
I really liked how everyone came together and where Lish McBride left it.

Necromancing the Stone (Necromancer, #2)

8. Prodigy (Sequel to Legend) by Marie Lu
I like Day and June working together more than I like them apart.

Prodigy (Legend, #2)

9. Storm and Siege (Sequel to Shadow and Bone) by Leigh Bardugo
Sigh.  This series.  Another one I love so much.  I hated how Mal acted, but the introduction of the new characters Sturmhond, Tamar, and Tolya made up for it.

Siege and Storm (The Grisha, #2)

10. Unravel Me (Sequel to Shatter Me) by Tahereh Mafi
I liked that Mafi toned down the flowery, poetic-y prose in favor of a lot more action and some hot make out scenes.

Unravel Me (Shatter Me, #2)

  1. So..I've not read ANY of these. I've got The Dream Thieves, so I'm trying to get to that ASAP, but I've not read any other series on this list! And I've seen most of these choices on most people's blogs so CLEARLY they are good and I need to get on that!

    1. Hmm, out of the ones I have I really think you would like The Assassin's Curse/The Pirate's Wish the best. Based on your book reviews, at least. ;)

    2. Well I will bump those up on my TBR for sure then :)

  3. Haha. I'm with Elizabeth, though I have read most of the firsts in these series. I've got a stack of seconds and thirds in trilogies in the TBR now.

  4. Yay for Pirate's Wish! It was almost on my list, but I only had ten slots and couldn't put everything. Unravel Me was also awesome, but Rae Carson really blew me away with the consistently wonderful books in the GoFAT series. Never a dip in quality, not once! :) Great list.
