Top Ten Tuesday: Character Names I Love

Top Ten Character Names
I LOVE

Top Ten Tuesday is an original weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish

1. Julia: Luna
[Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling]
Well, she is one of my favorite characters in Harry Potter and I just think the name is pretty. I named my English Setter Luna for this reason. My setter is a little nutsy, so it suits her. ;)

2. Julia: Gatsby
[The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald]
This book is so romantic, and also kind of creepy. Gatsby is sort of a stalker in a romantic way. Regardless, one of my favorite books and movies and I love this name.

3. Julia: Ronan
[Isle of Night by Veronica Wolff]
Strong, mysterious character in The Watchers series by Veronica Wolff. This isn't the only Ronan I have grown to love in fiction, but one of my favorites.

4. Julia: Trent
[The Hollows series by Kim Harrison]
Love the name, love the character, love the series, love the author. Trent Kalamack. He's amazing. He is my all time favorite book man.

5. Julia: Josephine
[Little Women by Louisa May Alcott]
I am not a huge fan of the book and I am not even a huge fan of her character in the book. But I've always loved her name and I think "Jo" for a girl is a sweet name.

6. Shannon: Perry, Aria, Roar, etc
[Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi]
I love how each name is representative of their character in some way.  It tells you so much about them.

7. Shannon: Sean Kendrick and Puck (Kate) Connelly
[The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater]
I pretty much love everything about this book, but mostly I love how great the names sound.  I really want a name that sounds that good when you say the whole thing.  I'm a total Hibernophile and the names seem Irish to me.

8. Shannon: Day
[Legend by Marie Lu]
I can't quite put my finger on why I like this so much, but I do.

9. Shannon: Gansey
[The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater]
I know it is his last name, but it just fits Gansey so well.  It kind of reminds me of Gatsby.

10. Shannon: Bigwig
[Watership Down by Richard Adams]
He is a big tough bunny with an extra mop of hair on his head.  He is also my favorite character.  Bigwig seems to suit him well.

  1. I love all these names! Ronan seems to have a specific character that works for the name (sort of the way Jack does. You always know a Jack, even if that isn't actually his name)

  3. Oh my gosh, I didn't realize how much the names from Under the Never Sky relate to the characters! Well, my day has just been made.
