Book Summary:
A week ago, Dinah’s cousin Claire cut her wrists.

Five days ago, Dinah found Claire’s diary and discovered why.

Three days ago, Dinah stopped crying and came up with a plan.

Two days ago, she ditched her piercings and bleached the black dye from her hair.

Yesterday, knee socks and uniform plaid became a predator’s camouflage.

Today, she’ll find the boy who broke Claire.

By tomorrow, he’ll wish he were dead.

Shannon's Thoughts:
I always think I will enjoy revenge plots.  I certainly enjoy revenge plots in TV and movies, but something about it in book makes me a little squirmy.  And this book was no exception.  The main problem was that I figured out what had happened very early on.  Which just made the rest of what happened fairly uncomfortable.  I also had a hard time connecting to Dinah.  In all honesty...I didn't really like her.  She was so singularly bent on revenge that she couldn't see the forest through the trees.  I think revenge books work well when you want to truly root for the revenge to succeed.  And I just couldn't get on board with Dinah's plan. I also found some of the other characters to be really over the top (like Dinah's friends and her mother).  It was hard to take them seriously.

I will say that this book was well written and touched on some very important things like depression, rape, and cutting.  I thought those issues were handled with care and compassion.  I actually wish we got to hear more of Claire's voice (outside of a few diary excerpts and a monologue from Dinah).  I think it would have lent some real weight to the events that ultimately leaded up to Claire's suicide attempt and help put the reader into the mindset of a depressed girl who thought she had lost everything.
